Why I love Trial
So, I just wanted to share this with everyone.
This is a mix that Mitch made for me after we “hung out” for the first time sort of. Emily, Andy, Dani, Mitch, and I drove to Providence to see a free movie screening of Bold Native, and to eat at Nice Slice. It was the first time I had gotten an actual chance to sit down and have a long conversation with Mitch, and he kept talking about Trial the whole ride there. When everyone else was on the other side of the street on the walk to Nice Slice, and we were on the opposite side, I jokingly told him to make me a mix sometime.
Literally a couple days later he sent me a tumblr message with a link to this. It’s so amazing.

We just started talking to each other way more often, and I was really stoked about it because I secretly always thought you were just so cool. You told me you were going to make me a real mixtape since your laptop was stolen, and I said I preferred tapes, to which you responded, “but you have to hang out at my house more often.” We made a deal.
I can’t believe something so awful, could happen to someone so innocent. I really can’t. You were so witty, and sometimes you would tell jokes about really obscure bands and expect everyone to know what you were talking about, and I would usually laugh anyways.
I remember the ride over to Providence to eat at Nice Slice and see Bold Native, and you just talked about how you loved being straight edge and how great Trial is the whole time. Then you told me how you somehow had ties with people that work on Tim and Eric. You were hilarious, and always making everyone laugh. And you made me a mix called “Why I love Trial” afterwards.
Every few days I looked forward to the “random picture text message” from you. I never knew why you would send me these random photos from your phone, but they were always funny. The last one you sent me was a picture of espresso and records. “The life.” The last thing you said to me was, “I swear if Chris Reject makes it to Spraynard at my house on the 10th somehow, and you don’t. You really are kicked out of punk!” you were the punk police.
I’m just so shocked. I miss you already.
I promise I’ll be a better punk, you wouldn’t have it any other way.
